Dutch karting champion Lukas Stiefelhagen joins NXT Gen Cup

Dutch karting champion Lukas Stiefelhagen is going to join the penultimate race weekend of the 2023 NXT Gen Cup season at Ring Knutstorp in Sweden, racing in the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car cup.

“I’m really excited to join the NXT Gen Cup at Ring Knutstorp! I’ve had some experience in electric karting already and I now very much look forward to racing with the LRT NXT1,” said Lukas Stiefelhagen.

The 16-year-old Dutch racer is a former 4-stroke karting champion who made his racing debut this season in the PTC Racing Cup as the youngest driver of the field and has claimed several class victories so far.

“Since this will be quite different from what I’ve raced so far, my main goal for the race at Knutstorp in this strong field of competitors is to gain experience in electric car racing,” said Lukas Stiefelhagen.

“This will contribute to my development as a driver, with next season in sight. It’s all new to me, but I will give it my absolute best, as always.”

Lukas Stiefelhagen, who is supported by his sponsors LKQ, Company Fits, Urban Events and Bas Koeten Racing will get his first taste of the 100% electric LRT NXT1 race car during testing on August 31st at Knutstorp.
