German TV star Matthias Killing joins NXT Gen Cup at Sachsenring

German TV star and DTM host Mattias Killing from ProSieben will be behind the wheel of an NXT Gen Cup car this weekend at Sachsenring. He’s filming a special segment for the DTM broadcast, showcasing the 100% electric junior touring car championship.

"My main goal is to have fun and enjoy an incredible experience as a race driver. In my job, it’s important to understand how a driver feels. What two, five, or even ten seconds truly mean on the track,” said Matthias Killing.

“It’s all about pushing the limits. DTM drivers have been doing that their entire lives. It’s their job. Mine is different, but it's amazing to experience it firsthand.”

“It’s also fascinating to see how the NXT Gen Cup helps develop young drivers for the future."

The NXT Gen Cup races together with the DTM - Europe’s premier and best-known racing series - at the Sachsenring this weekend and all races are broadcast LIVE on YouTube.

About NXT Gen Cup
The NXT Gen Cup is the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car cup where young female and male drivers race the LRT NXT1, a fully electric race car based on the MINI Cooper SE road car - engineered and built by Lestrup Racing Team. The series races together with DTM and is organised through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.

About DTM
