German karting ace Mats Overhoff makes NXT Gen Cup debut at Nürburgring

German karting ace Mats Overhoff is going to make his racing debut in the NXT Gen Cup, the world's first 100% electric junior touring car cup, at the legendary Nürburgring this weekend.

"I'm really fascinated by electric motorsport and it feels awesome to make my racing debut in NXT Gen Cup, especially at the amazing Nürburgring GP circuit," said Mats Overhoff.

The 17-year-old is currently racing karts all over Europe and has previously dipped his toe in electric racing with the electric Rotax E20 karts.

"I'm very much looking forward to this great opportunity, but as this is my first time in an electric touring car and on the Nürburgring, the outright results will play a subordinate role for me and I will focus on gaining experience for the next step in my career. I can't wait for the race weekend to start," said Mats Overhoff.

Mats Overhoff joins the 18-car NXT Gen Cup field for the DTM weekend at the Nürburgring on August 5-6, with practice, qualifying and the two races being broadcast LIVE on the NXT Gen Cup YouTube channel.
