Karting star Enzo Hallman joins inaugural NXT Gen Cup season

Rising karting star Enzo Hallman will join the inaugural NXT Gen Cup season, the world's first fully electric junior touring car championship.

"I'm thrilled to join NXT Gen Cup, it's a completely new and electrified adventure for me which feels just right for my future career," said Enzo Hallman.

The 14-year-old made his karting debut in 2018 and claimed the Swedish Junior 125 title last year.

2023 will see the Swede take a big step up to drive the 100% electric LRT NXT1 race car, a car which he got a first taste of recently during a test at Mantorp Park.

"The test was the first time ever for me in a proper race car and while I've got plenty to learn, it felt surprisingly natural," said Enzo Hallman.

"It's a fun car to drive and I'm already longing for 2023 which will be a really exciting year."

NXT Gen Cup will start in 2023 and run alongside the all-electric STCC.

The LRT NXT1 race car is based on the electric MINI Cooper SE road car that has been purpose-built for racing by Lestrup Racing Team, the founders of NXT Gen Cup.

The car features a 30kWh battery with an electric, liquid cooled motor which produces 230hp pending circuit - including push-to-pass functionality. The front-wheel drive cars can run 20-minute races at full pace thanks to comprehensive development by NXT Gen Cup in a wide array of conditions.
