Louise Larsson becomes the first confirmed driver for NXT Gen Cup

15-year-old Louise Larsson has become the first confirmed driver for the inaugural NXT Gen Cup season in 2023, the world's first 100% electric junior touring car cup.

"I'm really excited to take the step up to NXT Gen Cup, especially as it's an all-new electric junior cup which feels inspiring and just right for my future career," said Louise Larsson.

The Swede comes from a background of karting and Renault Junior Cup Sweden, where she finished sixth overall last year.

"We are delighted to welcome Louise to NXT Gen Cup. Her background of karting and junior touring cars is a really good starting point to further evolve her racing career through our championship," said Fredrik Lestrup, co-founder NXT Gen Cup.

Louse Larsson is going to join NXT Gen Cup for a first test in Sweden later this year to get a first taste of the all-new LRT NXT1, the world's first 100% electric junior touring car racer.

"I can't wait to get behind the wheel of the car and drive it," said Louise Larsson.

"I've had a first look at the car during my visit at the NXT Gen Cup headquarters and it looks amazing. I'm really looking forward to sink my teeth in all the preparations ahead of my first NXT Gen Cup season, 2023 can't come soon enough!"

NXT Gen Cup is the world’s first 100% electric junior touring car cup which will start in 2023 alongside the all-electric STCC.

The LRT NXT1 race car is based on the electric MINI Cooper SE road car that has been purpose-built for racing by Lestrup Racing Team, the founders of NXT Gen Cup.

The car features a 30kWh battery with an electric, liquid cooled motor which produces 230hp pending circuit - including push-to-pass functionality. The front-wheel drive cars can run 20-minute races at full pace thanks to comprehensive development by NXT Gen Cup in a wide array of conditions.

Interested junior drivers can apply interest to take part in the 2023 series right here.
