Merited karting youngster Oscar Pedersen steps up to NXT Gen Cup
The merited karting youngster Oscar Pedersen will take the step up to the 100% electric NXT Gen Cup which starts this weekend at Falkenberg in Sweden.
“I’m really excited that we got the NXT Gen Cup deal together and I can’t wait to embark on this completely new and electric journey,” said Oscar Pedersen.
The 17-year-old is a two-time Swedish OK class karting champion and finished third in the 2022 World Championship OK class.
He has started the 2023 season strongly in Formula Nordic and is currently placed second overall.
“Racing in NXT Gen Cup will obviously be completely different to everything I have done so far, but the switch motivates me. Going electric is a key part for the future of motorsport and the NXT Gen Cup field looks really impressive for its debut season. There is no doubt that it will be difficult to break into the top, but I will for sure fight hard to challenge for a solid result at the Falkenberg opener,” said Oscar Pedersen.
Oscar Pedersen will be one of 18 young talents at the historic Falkenberg season opener weekend which starts on Saturday this weekend with practice and qualifying, followed by two races on Sunday – all broadcast LIVE on YouTube.
NXT Gen Cup will run alongside the all-electric STCC in Sweden and DTM/ADAC Racing Weekend in Germany to crown the official Swedish Junior champion in cooperation with the Swedish Motorsport Federation (SBF) - learn more.
