NXT Gen Cup to host 2025 Swedish Junior Championship at Mantorp Park

NXT Gen Cup will stage a standalone 2025 Swedish Junior Championship with an action-packed three-race weekend at Mantorp Park on 19–20 September.

“We are excited to offer junior drivers the opportunity to showcase their talent and gain a proper introduction to electric junior racing in cooperation with the Swedish Motorsport Federation and Mantorp Park,” says Fredrik Lestrup, founder of NXT Gen Cup.

The last time NXT Gen Cup raced at Mantorp Park was during its inaugural season finale in 2023, before expanding internationally in 2024. This year’s Grand Finale at Mantorp Park will be a standalone event, reclaiming its status as a national championship race. For Mantorp Park, the return of NXT Gen Cup is a welcome reunion.

“It’s great to have NXT Gen Cup returning, as investments in junior racing are important for the sport. This is the drivers of the future competing against each other. We had some really exciting races back in 2023, so we are thrilled to welcome the series back,” says Jörgen Ekwall, project manager for the Grande Finale at Mantorp Park.

In addition to the championship-deciding weekend at Mantorp Park, NXT Gen Cup—the world’s first electric junior touring car series—will once again race alongside DTM, Europe’s premier and best-known racing series, across four race weekends from April to August.

Drivers of all nationalities aged 14 to 25 are eligible to enter and compete for the official 2025 Swedish Junior Championship title.

“The Grand Finale at Mantorp Park is an iconic Swedish motorsport event, and we are delighted to be back. We look forward to crowning the 2025 Swedish Junior Touring Car Champion,” Lestrup continues.

This event would not be possible without the support of its sanctioning body, the Swedish Automobile Sports Federation.

“We are very pleased to once again experience the thrilling racing of NXT Gen Cup on home soil, where talented junior drivers will battle for the prestigious Swedish Junior Championship title,” says Claes G. Elofsson, president of the Racing Commission.

The race weekend at Mantorp Park will feature two practice sessions, one qualifying session, and three race heats.

Registrations for the event are now open.

The series races together with DTM and is organised through an “arrive and drive” concept, enabling the junior drivers to focus on driving and creating the foundation for a professional racing career.

About DTM
DTM is Europe’s premier and best-known racing series and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2024. As one of the most competitive racing series, DTM features seven prestigious brands in its anniversary season. The DTM has a German core, but a strong international fan base. Races are broadcasted live in 150 territories. The series is also a leader in sustainable motorsport. For the second season, all cars are powered by a sustainable fuel made of 50% renewable components. Not only the cars racing in DTM are in the centre of sustainable projects. For the events itself the ADAC as promoter of the DTM offers innovations like an initiative to reduce plastic waste and a digital carpool solution, which has been recognised and awarded by the FIA.
