Sim racer Sean Terre makes his motorsport debut in NXT Gen Cup

The days when karting was the only pathway into car racing are long gone. A prime example of this shift is 15-year-old sim racing prodigy Sean Terre, who is now set to make his real-world motorsport debut in NXT Gen Cup.

With an impressive track record, the young German has already made a name for himself in professional sim racing. Now, he is making the transition to real-world racing in NXT Gen Cup’s fully electric touring cars—without any prior experience in traditional motorsport. Terre represents a new wave of drivers who are bridging the gap between virtual and real-world racing.

“I’ve taken an unconventional path from the very beginning because I want to represent a new type of driver—one who hasn’t followed the traditional karting route but has instead spent thousands of hours in the simulator. What sets me apart is my ability to perform consistently under pressure, and I believe that skill could give me a crucial advantage on track,” said Sean Terre.

For NXT Gen Cup, Terre’s signing for the full season is yet another confirmation that its 'arrive and drive' concept and equal-performance philosophy make the championship an attractive platform for young drivers from diverse backgrounds in racing.

“We are delighted to have Sean Terre on board for this season. His achievements in the sim racing world have certainly impressed us. It will be fascinating to see how he applies those skills when stepping into the LRT NXT1 car,” said Fredrik Lestrup, founder of NXT Gen Cup.

When asked about his personal goals for the season, Terre has his sights primarily set on both learning and savouring the moment:

“My goal is to become the best rookie. Beyond that, I don’t want to set too many expectations. I’m certain this season will be the best year of my life, regardless of the results. The experiences I’ll gain will be invaluable. I’m fascinated by the future of motorsport and its innovations—this is exactly why NXT Gen Cup is the perfect platform for me,” Terre continues.

NXT Gen Cup, the world’s first electric junior touring car cup, will once again race alongside the DTM—Europe’s premier and best-known racing series—over four race weekends from April to August.
