Single seater ace Elias Adestam enters inaugural NXT Gen Cup season

Single seater ace Elias Adestam is going to join the first season of NXT Gen Cup, the world's first fully electric junior touring car cup.

"This is a new chapter in my career and I'm very much looking forward to the challenge," said Adestam.

The 16-year-old Swede has raced single seaters for the past four seasons, securing the 2021 Formula Nordic bronze medal and made his international debut last year in the British GB4 Championship.

"I'm going from a rear-wheel driven single seater to a front-wheel driven, electric touring car, something that for sure will be a readjustment for me," said Adestam.

"But I still think and hope that my learnings from primarily racing in the UK will be a strong positive for me. NXT Gen Cup is a really exciting concept with a bright future ahead. That it's sustainable is a big positive for me and I'm really looking forward to the season."

NXT Gen Cup will crown the official Swedish Junior Champion in 2023, racing alongside the all-electric Scandinavian Touring Car Championship.

The first race weekend will take place at Falkenberg on July 8-9, explore the full calendar here.
