Sim racer Isak Arvidsson returns from injury to make NXT Gen Cup debut

Sim racer Isak Arvidsson returns to motorsport following a fall injury five years ago, making his racing debut in the historic NXT Gen Cup premiere at Falkenberg this weekend - completing the 18-car field.

"I'm so happy to finally make my racing debut and I couldn't have imagined a better series than NXT Gen Cup, a really exciting concept which looks so competitive," said Isak Arvidsson.

The 17-year-old raced in karting prior to his injury in 2018. He tried a comeback the next year, but the injury was too severe and prevented a full comeback.

“I completed two races that year, unfortunately my injury stopped me from doing the whole season,” said Isak Arvidsson.

The past couple of years have seen the Swede successfully competing in sim racing.

”Sim racing is a great tool for me to keep active and as part of my recovery. Making my debut in NXT Gen Cup is no doubt going to be a massive challenge and I'm humble ahead of it, especially as I haven't tested the cars yet. But I am confident that I can pick the pace up and start making some progress throughout the season," said Isak Arvidsson.

Isak Arvidsson is the 18th and final driver confirmed for the inaugural NXT Gen Cup season which starts at the fastest circuit in Sweden, Falkenberg, this weekend - July 8-9, see the full line-up here.

NXT Gen Cup will run alongside the all-electric STCC in Sweden and DTM/ADAC Racing Weekend in Germany to crown the official Swedish Junior champion in cooperation with the Swedish Motorsport Federation (SBF) - learn more.
